Origami. How to make insects and bugs . Cicads

A paper cicada

A origami lesson sent by David Prat.

Origami stimulates the boy's creative aspect. This activity helps to increase the desire for perfection and work care; Well-done paper folds and a fine finishing helps to create a perfect paper animal.
We can make handiwork more colorful using color papers , creating this way a family of insects of diverse aspects.

Fold a squared sheet of paper diagonally.

Fold vertices (A y B) along the line of dots till the third vertex ( C) - like in the image.

We will make the wings now:
If we want them opened , jump to the next step. If we prefer our cicada to have its wings closed, follow this step and skip the next.

Fold twice along the diagonal to mark the fold. One marked, fold down the tips ( A and B) so as they remain detached.

. We will follow this step if we want our cicada to have its wings opened. On the contrary, skip to the next step.

Fold twice to mark the fold, lightly oblique in relation to the diagonal AB. Fold down the wings ( hold by the finger in the image) so as they can remain separated. Take into account that the left wing must go to point C and the right wing to point D.

The tutorial goes on explaining how to make a cicada with closed wings . However, the opened-wings caddied can be make following the same procedure ( They only differ in the pictures in the wings aperture) We can imagine how it looks looking at the last photo of this section.

Make a double horizontal fold in the center of the superior tip. Fold it down. ( Notice that the superior folded vertex doesn't really covers the whole figure, but it leaves the superior vertex a few centimeters uncovered)

As showed in the image, fold again taking a little bit of the wing along the line of dots

Fold down along the two oblique lines vertices A and B

In such a way the cicada has been done.
Now, following the line of dots, fold tip A downwards to make the head of the insect.

Fold the two superior angles upwards to make the eyes.

The closed-winged cicada is just finished.

In case you have followed the second option in the third step, the opened- winged cicada will have the aspect of the image.
