How the study or drawing room must be. Basic characteristics of the drawing studio.

The drawing studio is a room dedicated exclusively to exercise the task of drawing, to color, to clip or to do any other procedures to obtain the final work that the artist seeks. It is advisable to possess your own place , at least an area in your room where to concentrate the whole material and tools . This is the right way to avoid to go anywhere in your house to catch some utensil. You should center in your work and take profit from your time better.
It must be relatively roomy. You have to place the table, seat, cupboard, tools, and yourself. If you are presented with a claustrophobic space, you won't be able to work well and you will get tired quickly.
The walls should be painted with light colors. A dark place will harm your concentration and will make your eyes exhausted.
To organize the material you can opt to place a cupboard or some wall shelves next to the table, in such a way that, without needing to get up from your seat, you can reach all what you need. However, this is useless after all if, after drawing, you leave the material everywhere. It is important to locate all the objects in their suitable place.
The room must have good ventilation. It is indispensable if we work with tints or paintings that emanate vapors. A good window, will provides you not only the correct light but healthy fresh air, too.
When
drawing, such as in any other tasks, it is necessary a good illumination.
It is preferable to use the sunlight for its numerous qualities: it provides
a potent and uniform light, it is free, healthy and it shows us the colors
in their natural tonality. If we don't have enough illumination in our room,
we can use artificial illumination. Always using devices that provide a
white light; yellow one, for instance, tires and damages our eyes . Phosphorescent
lamps or high-powered bulbs (100W) will offer you a good illumination.
We will place them so that the focus directs the light to the contrary side
to the hand that we use. Being right-handed, we will place the bulb on the
left side, but if we are left-handed we will locate it on the right. By
doing this, we will avoid to project our shade on the paper.
