Drawing table

Drawing table

The best thing is to have an autoajustable slanting drawing table . Besides providing rigidity and solidity, we will habituate to it finding it much more interesting when beginning to draw. As its slope is adjustable, we will be able to find the most appropriate angle for us. When we buy the table and we install it in the room we will have to place it firmly on the floor. If it swings while we are inking , it will ruin the whole work. Besides being stable it must also be very rigid so that it doesn't move while we are drawing .
We can also opt to use a wooden board placed on books or boxes. It is the most economic solution, but the less practical one.

It is advisable, although not essential, to have a tracing table.

Surface of the table

Friction is the cause of the detachment of graphite particles (or the material with which we are working with) on the paper. For that reason the contact area among these two elements must always be present . By doing this, we will avoid that our lines to come out irregular and rough.
If we draw on rough surfaces we will obtain undesirable textures; although this is sometimes used deliberately as a drawing technique. The ideal thing is to work on flat surfaces so as to avoid the the pencil refill to sink .
If our work place doesn't complete this requirements we can serve ourselves (like we have commented before) of an additional board of superior size to the leaf that we are using to draw.

Basically the right thing is to draw on a hard, flat and immobile surface.
